When I make claims that Members of Masterpiece Fitness Training are making a Bandon better place, I can actually back that up with research.
Movement is one of the essential, non-negotiable ingredients to a life with Sustainable Impact.
To live a life with Impact, is to a live a life worth telling a story about. (Thanks Todd Durkin!)
If we want energy, enthusiasm, even passion for every day life, we must include all four of these components in our daily living: Movement. Mindset. Nutrition. Recovery. (Thanks Scott Peltin!)
If we are lethargic, weary, or indifferent about our purpose, we must look at which of these four components could be lacking, because as I see it, we only have ONE LIFE to MAKE AN IMPACT.
In the next 6 weeks at MFT, you’ll hear a lot about how to incorporate these elements into your daily living.
Today’s focus is on Movement.
Did you know there are at least 35 known ailments, or life-threatening diseases that could be avoided with physical activity?
Cardiorespiratory fitness is a more reliable predictor of early death than any other recognized risk factors for cardiovascular disease, including hypertension, smoking and diabetes. Keeping up good cardiorespiratory health is one of the most important things you can do for your health!
Physical inactivity is one of the main risk factors for osteoporosis. And physical activity is the Rx! Specifically resistance training. Resistance training can be done in a gym or at home, and equipment is very easy to come by.
Physically active people are less likely to suffer from depression. Studies show that moderate exercises is as effective as drug therapy for depression, and that exercises produces substantial improvement in mood in patience with major depressive disorders. By joining a class taught by a certified pro, you get camaraderie and accountability as well as expert instruction to avoid injuries. Outdoor exercise is especially effective. Walking or playing on the playground with kids are good options.
Diverticulitis, constipation and gallbladder disease can be caused by inactivity, and the Rx is Exercise!
Lack of exercise is the primary cause of Metabolic Syndrome.
Physical activity is associated with lower risk of some cancers.
I can provide a full list, or a reference to the Journal where I got my information if you message me.
If you’re still not sold: Movement can improve self-esteem, and increase your brain power (creatively and intellectually)!
So look out, Bandon! We have a small population of our city that is growing more Confident and Smarter every day!
